This thread inspired me to do a bit of research on bourbon, and I eventually stumbled upon Jason Pyle's site: http://sourmashmanifesto.com/ I don't know if you guys know it, but he has reviewed quite an amount of bourbons and tends to like the more spicy ones. So Hass you might find his site interes...

I have only tried the regular Four Roses, and I didn't really like it.. I was in fact under the impression that I didn't like bourbon, until recently where my brother introduced me to Maker's Mark. It was quite an eye-opening experience, and Maker's Mark has been kind of a gateway drug into bourbon ...

Thanks da'rum

That was quite a selection. Compared to Danish liquor-shops this is huge. The prices here are 30-50% cheaper than in Denmark, so that isn't really an issue. Usually i try to support the small speciality shops at home when I buy booze, but when I on a rare occasion get to Flensburg my main priority i...

Re.

Will do.. I hope that Sue Sea recovers soon. My wife is sick as well some bad case of pneumonia. Quite the start of a new year :? Good trick with the Fernet Branca, I might try that sometime. Interestingly during my wife's sickness she has taken a particular liking to Matusalem's 15 yo, a rum that s...

Doh..

This inspired me quite a lot, and I have been reading a bit about home-distilling since the last post. And just a few minutes ago I realised that home-distilling is illegal in Denmark. What a shame, this really caught my interest  Nevertheless it was quite educational.. Thanks for an interestin...

A little too late..

Merry Christmas and while we're at it happy New Year. As always I'll be true to Danish tradition and spend the next few days binge- eating and drinking schnaps with my family :) As well as Dai I hope that your future may contain all the liquid merriment you can handle.

Citi has S&C in Flensburg. Citi is dominated by the big suppliers but they have a couple of gems to find still including some Tequilas Bourbons and Single malts. If all else fails I can order some for you online and you can pick it up from me as I'm in the Flensburg area. Thanks I will go and c...

The poor Danish must pay huge taxes on booze so the prices may not be indicative of anything except a greedy government. Although because of Danish government greed our city is kept alive by those skipping over the border to do their shopping. Cheers Indeed and these prices were from English shops,...

Danish rum-snobbery.. It had to happen.

Rum has recently gained popularity in Denmark, there are starting to appear Danish bottlings of a variety of rums and recently this appeared in the telly. I recently found the clip in youtube as well (in Danish): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fD2u0IhfN34&list=FL09PrqKi_pvRtFXFinRa5Zw&featur...

My opinion..

Because of Sue Sea's recommendation this was my introduction to the Jamaican rum style. To me the taste of Asmussen starts of rather sweet somewhat reminding me of frosting, later the dunder comes in with pleasant, but to my still rather inexperienced tongue unidentifiable bursts of flavour. The fin...
