El Pasador de Oro

Found this at the local Total Wine. Doesn't appear to be a lot of information on the internet regarding it. Does anyone know anything about it? Appears to be a Guatemalan rum which, as we all know produces some of the best rum liqueurs in the world  I'm pretty sure it is sugar laden, but less ...

"I then asked if any rum from the Caroni Distillery was present 'Caroni is long gone, and the island production is all owned by Angostura. That said, they have a very wide range of distillates, well beyond what you see labelled under their brand.'" Sounds like he's saying that SOMETHING o...

It most definitely is not legal. The secondary market is the main cause for the extreme prices we see in some of the rare (not necessarily old) bourbons. It is also the secondary market that has allowed some retailers to charge much much more than retail and then justify it by saying "that is w...

Of course private individuals selling bottles to others is illegal. That being said, it's pretty ridiculous that the laws here in the States are so screwed up that private individuals can't sell to others. The government isn't afraid some teenager is going to get their hands on alcohol. No, they are...

Got it...I've one of the older round bottles still but have been hesitant to break it open. I wonder if there are any more out in the wild. So with that being said, does anyone know if there are changes between the "new old" bottle and the "new" XO blend that came out as the most...

Capn, Are you saying this particular design came out around 2009?: http://www.mountgayrum.com/#/products/extra-old-detail I have an older looking bottling which I was buying in 2009/2010. It is shown here in one of Ralfy's reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=juDutlFhNDo The bottle I picked up y...

What was the release date of the "New" XO bottling? I seem to recall the Black Barrel hitting the shelves in 2012 or maybe 2013? I am assuming the XO came out around the same time. Mount Gay's website states that their XO is a blend of 8 to 15 year old rums. Sure would be interesting to kn...

Picked up one of the last Extra Old bottles left on the shelf at Total Wine before they switch over to the "XO" bottles. I should have pulled the trigger and picked up both, but with a little luck it will still be there when I go back. I understand Total Wine is like a "big box store&...

Which old bottling of the Extra Old are you comparing? I have a bottle of the Extra Old that is round. I also have a bottling of the Extra Old with a newer bottling design that looks akin to the 1703 bottle. I think this design came out around 2009 or so. There is also the new bottle with the new de...

Indeed...

We can shoot a piece of equipment the size of a baby grand piano out to an object over 4 billion miles away at 30,000 mph, but we can't figure out a way to fix our antiquated liquor laws.

JaRiMi, Thank you for the input. Yes, I think importation, etc would be the largest obstacle to overcome. I know K&L Wine out of California recently did some excellent bottlings via their Faultline line of spirits. These were brought in from Scotland. Obviously, they have a lot more pull than so...

As of yet, no response from Caskers... I've been subscribed to their site for a while and have only received spam mail so they not actually responding to a general e-mail doesn't surprise me. If anything comes up, I will update further.
