Coffee flavored rum drinks
So I was in Total Wine the other day. They had a sale on George Ocean Coffee Rum. I know that George Ocean white rum reviews really well, so I figured I'd give it a try. Now that I have it home, I have no idea what to use it in. I have no idea what drinks would be good for a coffee rum. When I searc...

Why is it illegal? Because it's not labeled as an added ingredient? I've never looked for ingredients on a rum bottle, but do they list water as an added ingredient? Unless it's cask strength, they water down the rum when they bottle, don't they? Just trying to learn, not really arguing in favor of ...

Are these still the standards?
As I think I've said in ever post so far, I'm new to rum. I really want to see just what the world of rum has to offer. I started with a bottle of Mount Gay XO and have since been picking up bottles that are rated well and seem to be a decent price. But I got to thinking that I need to develop a pla...

It's always annoying when someone reviews something and their bias is obvious. But I suppose it all depends on what the reviewer's goal is. If it is to look at the rum judging just how it represents the style or something like that, there can be no bias. However, if the reviewer is trying to get acr...

Take a look around at what is around. In Maryland, the laws have change to make it much easier for breweries to serve directly to the public. I tend to hit the small places. I can get the big brewery's beer on tap anyplace, some of the small ones are very limited on where you can try their beer. Hea...

I was glad to see this thread. I'm new and I've been hitting a bunch of rum rating sites to see what I should try. I want to get what is seen as being pretty good rum. But I'd find that on BTI they have something like Mount Gay XO as a 95 and then I look on Rum Ratings app and it's a 7.8. I knew tha...

Rhum Agricole recommendation for a newbie
As I said in my intro post, I'm new to rum and trying to figure out what it available and what I like. I keep hearing that Agricole isn't good for newbies, but can anyone recommend an agricole to start with? Something that's a good representation of the style.

I had R.L. Seale 10 year for the first time today. It tastes exactly like rum is supposed to taste like. I couldn't really taste anything specific in it. But to me it has a pretty strong alcohol taste and smell to it. For me it has a pretty strong burn to it. The price is right and I'll get it again...
