I've written quite a few haiku reviews for you to peruse in these forums. Others have written poetry about rum, and I just found out that others have written haikus to review movies, but I might be the first and only to do it as a rum reviewer. A quick online search seems to confirm this historic fe...

Just picked up a liter of "Gold" from 2012 (the date sticker on the price label from my dusty liquor store)... I found the long-lost golden city of El Dorado! I've only had ED12, ED151 and Lemon Hart 151 from Guyana. Pretty good. A little sweet. I need some more time with this one.

I skipped Royal Oak this year (so I ent try it as yet), but I came to a revelation: Angostura 5 year is probably better than Vat 19. It might be the best value. 1824 is my first choice at an all inclusive fete. Vat 19, 7 year and 5 year might be in a 3 way tie. It's worth noting that duty free in th...

Ron Zecapa 23 Haiku Review NOT twenty three years, AND it's overpriced and fake. Don't believe the hype I haven't had this in a long time. It was one of my first relatively expensive rums I bought. I liked it, but I moved on when I learned that it was altered. There are unaltered rums that are cheap...

I saw a bottle of this yesterday at my local funky liquor store that has lots of unusual and dusty bottles hidden in the shelves. A lone bottle of Margaritaville Silver was on sale for $10. Who knows how long it's been there. Why not celebrate Mr Buffet's ode to escapism through alcoholism with a ni...

This was the first bottle of rum that I spent more than $20 on. I felt like a big shot. It was enjoyable, and easy to drink. To show where my taste was at the time, I also bought Mt Gay Eclipse for the first time, and it seemed a little harsh to me in comparison. In hindsight, I would not buy Zaya a...

Dr Bird Haiku review Doctor Funkenstein. Pungent; Tequila and Scotch Appleton seems tame. ___________________ Wow. This one... what can I say? I like the bottle. It looks like patent medicine. It's overwhelming in aroma and flavor. i'm trying to think what it compares to or how to mix it. I just put...

Sipping S&C straight isn't a good idea unless you're already used to overproofs... and even then it's not the best idea. I still like sipping it. Appleton 12 or a big bottle of appleton v/x is around the same price point. Find what you like at that price. Jamican Rum and Ginger beer is the ultim...

Anax, I had a lot of white oak in Tobago. Since I can get it in the US, I decided to skip it. If I had royal oak, I don't remember it, but I plan on buying some at piarco next time. You know a good place to get rum in POS? Jimbo, Old Oak was Angostura... here's some old labels and their respective d...

El Dorado 151 is a clear alternative to Lemon Hart 151 (Pun intended). It would be interesting to try them head to head.

JaRiMi, I think I would have to visit 1787 with a more skeptical attitude next time. I probably won't buy it again, mostly because of the price, but if I see it at a fete, I'll give it a shot (pun intended). What's your favorite rum that can be purchased in T&T? Caroni and Scarlet Ibis don't see...
