Re: Doorly's 12yr

Just got back to Florida and picked up a bottle. I can taste the oak but I don't think it's anyway near over oaked. I like oak so there is that.

What kills me is the kid says he is broke and the only suggestions other than mine are all over $33.00. I do like the way RvanD thinks.

The reserva is not the same as the solara. Did a side by side and the solara is definitely a notch above the reserva. Enjoyed them both though.

Picked up a bottle of Botran Reserva. Is this the same rum? It has a card on the neck that says it a blend of 5 to 14 yo rums. Not bad for $18.00.

Watching a daytime tv program (yea I know) recently, I found out there are three types of tasters. Non tasters, tasters and super tasters. The difference is how you perceive bitterness. Super tasters are extremely sensitive to bitterness. 50% of the population are tasters while non taster and super ...

I'm in California visiting relatives and splurged a little ($34.00) on this one. I'll have to say this rum is right up my alley. Sweet but not too sweet. Nice aftertaste. It's close to ElDorado 15, my current favorite.

I'm back in Florida and picked up a bottle of ElDorado 12 and 4 bottles of the ED 5 to take back with me. I tried Barcelo, Abuelo and Abuelo 7. Love the 7. The other two, not so much. I am going to pick up some Matusalem 18 and ED 15 before I leave.

Found this rum today in New Port Richey on sale for $14.99. Came In a box with a deck of cards and a stack of poker chips. I'm having it neat right now and really enjoying it. I am 2 for 2 this week with the ElDorodo 5 I bought Tuesday.

I just got back to Florida and picked up the 5 year old. It tastes like the 15 year old, but not quite as smooth. The 15 is my current favorite, but at $9.99 you can't beat the 5. Going to get the 12 before I leave.

Bought a bottle today for daiquiris. Don't like it in daiquiris but, if you pour a little over an ice cube and let it melt, it's pretty darn good. Everyone is out of Seagrams, my usual daiquiri rum.

Found out Arlington, Texas is dry. Went to the next town West and got a bottle of Flor de Cana 7. Not bad but I can't wait to get back to Florida and try El Dorado 12.

Guess it's 2 more weeks until we go to Texas. I will look for the ED5. I also want to try Flor de Cana 7. Neither are available in Ohio. I opened the MGXO last week and bought a bottle of Cruzan Single Barrel. The MGXO was $9.00 cheaper in Florida but still $35.00. The Cruzan is $28.00 in Ohio and w...

Well if you insist. I will look for it in Texas when I'm down there next week.

This is a replacement bottle Capn. I have been drinking Barbancourt for about a year now. It's what got me interested in good rum. My bud Don stopped by and had a 1919 with me. I had him sample Bacardi 8, Applelton 12, Pyrate, ED 15 and Matusalem 15. He had a shot of the Matusalem and I had the ED. ...
