Just an update - I finally got around to opening a bottle of Zaya I got last year while on vacation in Florida. This stuff has gone completely to shit. Might as well be drinking vanilla extract. The newest bottles have a metal screw cap and collar, but I have read that the ones with paper wrap aroun...

I am in Florida on vacation and took the opportunity to stock up on a shi- err, boat-load of Seale's stuff. I stopped at TW Sunday and grabbed bottles of Cockspur 12 yr and Doorly's 12 yr. Both are outstanding, and in a side-by-side the Doorly's held up well - enough so that I couldn't justify going...

I just scored a very nice price on a case of 375s of the reserve online - $7 a bottle with free shipping (750 is usually around $25 here in NC). I was concerned that it was mislabeled which often happens online, and was relieved when it got here and was in fact the reserve. Campari's website still s...

Green is back. Priced a little higher than it used to be, at $55-60. I used to get it for around $45.

have you ever had the Appleton 21 yr? I usually see it priced in the $110-120 range but NC has it available on special order for a giveaway price of $77 - but you have to order a case of 6.

I got 1703 from them last year for $72 after 10% discount, I see their price is up to $90 this year.

Good luck finding any Weller products these days, they seem to have redirected all their stock to the Van Winkle lineup.

I grabbed a few Weller 12's and a couple 107's (as well as a few bottles of Special Reserve) a year or so before they disappeared from store shelves.

I just bought a bottle of the new-label "rare blend", it now says "aged 12 years' not "a minimum of 12 years". This concerns me. I can't be sure because my old bottle is half full but it looks a little darker. Before I finish it I will open the new one and compare them in gl...

Unfortunately from what I have heard Teacher's seems to have undergone a formulation change within the last few years and is now a shadow of what it used to be. I have been nursing the last of a 1.75 ltr bottle that I am pretty sure is of the old formulation because it still has a lot of that lovely...

For the price, the Evan Williams BIB is hard to beat, I can get it on sale for $12 around here in NC. The more aged 1783 (10 yrs vs 4 for the BIB) is also very good for just a couple bucks more. I like to use the BIB as a mixer due to the higher proof and the 1783 for daily sipping, and the single b...

I'm very disappointed in the Pusser's 15 yr. Glad to see that the regular Blue label 80 proof is only 6 grams.

Far and away my favorite is Gouden Carolus Noel, a Belgian strong ale . The spicing is very subtle, and it is actually one of my overall favorites.

I tried this rum the other night - I like it a lot, especially at the price I paid. Hate the bottle though, or at least the cap - the cheap metal top didn't engage the threads at all and I had to cut along the perforations to get it off. I couldn't find a leftover cork to fit it tightly so had to bo...

There might not be as much distinction between most regions of Scotch, but the difference between a heavily peated Islay such as Ardbeg or Laphroaig and an unpeated lowland or Speyside is so large that someone unfamiliar with Scotch might not realize they are the same spirit.
