Sorry I haven't been around much...

but I got married a few months back, and with the moving, dealing with the wedding, getting settled into a "normal life", and a honeymoon in Ocho Rios, Jamaica (got to try Wray and Nephew, Havana Club and Bacardi 8 YO, too!), well, I hope you'll understand and maybe allow me a little slack...

Cap'n, please don't read this standing up

have a seat first, maybe enjoy a draw or two on a pipe with your choice of tobacco or a good cigar, THEN read this Kickstarter campaign that promises "Whisky your way" via oak sticks that are laser cut to allow more surface area for spirit to interact with. https://s3.amazonaws.com/ksr/ass...

And if the good Cap'n would see fit to provide for me an address, I would happily provide for you and Sue Sea the pre-change standard bottle of Black Bottle that I compared the 10YO version to, as seen here (it is only 2 drams less of the full 750ml, btw). http://www.moparfins.com/forum/uploads/13/B...

Uh, point of order, Black Bottle is not part of Diageo's offerings, it IS part of Burn Stewart Distillers however. From their " About Us " page; Burn Stewart Distillers is part of the Distell Group Limited, Africa’s leading producer and marketer of spirits, fine wines, ciders and ready to ...

If one wants to enjoy a revealing interview of 2 gents involved with Templeton, Mark Gillespie of Whiskycast has this episode for your enjoyment. Apparently, the parts where nothing is said in response to Mark's questions is more revealing than what IS said. Now I need to listen to it! Update:...

I thought this was already decided even before the issue came to a vote...by those Scots who earned their independence by heading to the Ulster Plantation and eventually was would become the nascent United States...but what do I know?

The US gov't is NOT the solution, it IS the problem.

And Tito's is vodka so I can't find the proper expression for how much empathy I lack for the product, the lawsuit, et al.

Excellent, and many of these descriptors apply to whiskies, which helps me as I don't really care for nuts, so things described as "walnutty" or "almond" kinda go in one ear and out the other as I don't anticipate or look forward to experiencing those flavors.

Here is a painting I think you would appreciate, oh Cap'n. Maybe someone could do a portrait of you in a similar pose (not mounted upon a steed, however) leading a charge against rogue rum producers and Potemkin rye bottlers? ;) Found in part 4 of the "Wine and Warfare" series I posted abo...

Rum ration and the Tommy in WW1

Found another fascinating rabbit trail while perusing through the otherwise light and PR-ish website The Drinks Business, a 15 part series written by one Rupert Millar titled "Wine and Warfare". From the first article, published Dec. 16, 2013 (a 2 page piece starting with Rome part 1 and p...

"Bulletproof coffee"...it's real, have ya tried it

It's amazing the rabbit trails one can go down on the interwebz, and what started out for me as a viewing a series from "Munchies" with a young lady named Charlet visiting several locations in Scotland over 5 videos that highlights Alba's natural abundance in foods (episode 1 features a &q...

This might be the "gateway" for me into coffee

And one would think that having worked as a busser at 2 espresso places after high school that I would have picked up at least a passing interest in a morning cup o' Joe, but it has not yet come to be. Back to the point I hinted at in the title of this thread. Via Food & Dining section of today'...
