I was wrong
I did a few tests today on this rum just to confirm everything but... The final confirmation test came in at 38.9% ABV. Temp reading was at 17.3C. Corrected to 40.1% ABV. I have to say I'm impressed and surprised by this result. While I did not suspect sugar as the rum itself in the mouth is not swe...

Well, that's good to hear. The last time I had the same reaction when returning from the Dominican Republic well over over the limit that was in Baltimore. In NYC they don't not bat an eye. I also brought back a bag of spices to make a St. Lucian locally spiced rum. It's still fermenting right now. ...

At the Airport after passing through with luggage maxed out at 50+ pounds, I bought more bottles. My luggage was a bit over and I started moving some items to carry on but they just said it was ok and took it with out the extra charge. I got Toz gold and white, elements 8 gold and white, all not ava...

Using a hard shell will really make it easy. On my trip to St. Lucia I brought back 14 bottles. I brought with me bubble wrap and wrapped loose bottles and I got some cardboard carriers that I put in the suit cases from the distillery. No problems. I also used the protective web messing that you get...

I cracked open a bottle of this tonight. Cuban is a positive here very light and the rum itself really leans to this style. I would say that the nose is typical of an African white rum. Interesting, different, hard to peg, very subdued on the alcohol. Floral, sweet, somewhat fruity, mangos. The tast...

This may not be as crazy at its seems. Rum was used in the 1800's for hair cleaning. “New England rum, constantly used to wash the hair, keeps it very clean, and free from disease, and promotes its growth a great deal more than Macassar oil. Brandy is very strengthening to the roots of the hair; but...

The variations were most likely sold side by side during its release periods. This was a short lived company that lasted until from the records I found until 2004. The bottle you have is more than likely first run due to the topper. As far as value is concerned here I would say more of a keepsake bo...

Black Tot: not the real British Navy Rum?
Note: the following posts were "split" from another thread, as Mama has raised a very interesting new subject... I have heard rumors that the black tot is not Royal Navy rum. It was actually army issue rum purchased on open markets. They say it was stored in Germany during the cold war an...

While Dictador 12 may not be sugared, I find it to be clearly altered. The 12 year old had a distinct unnatural taste of coffee. I would also not doubt the Panamonte having added sugar. Don Poncho's own lines have added sugars, take the reported 18 year results he released not long ago. As he is ass...
