Seales 10 is a staple. Indeed. I've grown quite fond of Barcelo Imperial and the (sugared I know) ED 15. My Pussers Blue is nearly full so I don't have to face the issue. Then again there are some bottles which surely won't be replaced - such as Zacapa 23, Angostura 1919 or Plantation Whatever... :r...

Very compelling statement by R. Seale. The desired outcome of this debate must really be to sway the web's opinion clearly in favour of purity. If this feat can be achieved, newcomers to rum will be aware of the issue and hopefully agree to mostly choose honest producers. Then other companies would ...

After watering down the 54%-Version of Pussers to roundabout 43% my girlfriend and I found it quite awesome. Similar to Seales 10 in many ways and quite a bang for the buck if you consider the higher proof.

Ron Miel from the Canary Islands

Hi fellow Rum lovers, does anyone of you have any experience regarding honeyed Ron Miel from the Canary Islands? Soon I'll be going to Fuerteventura and I consider to bring a bottle as a fitting souvenir. However I don't know wether there are any superior brands or if it's all the same honeyed sweet...

Probably old MGXO (I own a fairly new bottle and am amazed anyway)...

Or a solid stash of Diplomatico Reserva Exclusiva - then I would not need to worry about food due to the sugar...

Farewell and good luck! My short time at the project was very informative and entertaining to this day and I am happy that you decided to keep it online and return for sporadic wise commentaries.

All the best!

Nice Review of ED15 bearmark! I thought a lot about the whole "additives"-topic and came to the conclusion that the first step has to be a simple law forcing producers to list all ingredients used to deliver the final product. Whether true craftmanship was employed to produce said product ...

Ron Varadero & Ron Millonario

Dear fellow Rum-addicts, I am currently thinking about buying one or two of the above mentioned. Precisely the following types: Ron Varadero Gran Reserva 15 Years Old Millonario Solera Reserva Especial 15 Anos Does anyone here have any experience regarding those guys? I am quite amazed by MGXO, FdC ...

The upside of the original Havana Club rum is that it provides a decent mass market alternative to Bacardi. I know lots of people who are not ready to invest too much money or time into the spirits for their next party/dinner etc. - Havana Club 3 Anos and Blanco provide enjoyable rums who live up to...

Nevertheless the change can be identified in different products much more easily once you tried it yourself. I am confident to say that after realising what the effect of sugar tastes like I am much more able to identify added sugar in rum and possibly even make a rough prediction about the amount. ...

I decided to post my results in a new thread since the post is quite extensive... I picked up all your advice, using Havana Blanco and Seales 10 as samples. The results are interesting :) Link to my new thread: http://rumproject.com/rumforum/viewtopic.php?p=3819#3819 ******* Capn's Log : This link a...

Experiment: Che tests effects of added sugar! A must read!

After a nice discussion and my proposition of an experiment in another thread I am posting my protocol. Have fun  Method: I decided to use Havana Club Anejo Blanco (don't own Bacardi and am not going to change that) as an example for pure white rum. Seales 10 Years will have to stand fas...

Thank you very much for the useful information. I decided to prepare syrups with refined and raw sugar and test them seperately. However my free time is rather limited within the next two days so we can expect results on Wednesday.

Now I am struggling which rum to defile... I can't decide whether Flor de Cana 12 Years or Seales 10 Years, what do you think?
