I actually think that is a rather cool design, but should be used for some sort of higher priced special edition, not to add to the price of the ~$25 OGD 114, which already has a rather nice presentation with a cork stopper. http://library.bevnetwork.com/bottles/130/28931.jpg The student's design re...

Hitime in Cali has it for $19, and based on your review I am about to order 2 during their annual 10% off sale.

Re: Bully On Dept: Starbucks custom "Clover" cof

The new "Clover system was a breakthrough... If you want to try one, here's a site that tracks the locations: http://www.starbucksmelody.com/2010/06/20/where-are-all-the-starbucks-clover-stores/ That site is way out of date, the location tracker on Starbucks' site has an option for sites with ...

I actually had a very good cup of coffee yesterday at - of all places - Starbucks. The only reason I was even there was to use a 50% off deal we got on groupon, and I was surprised to see a list of single-origin coffees on their "clover" list - whatever the hell that was. Among these was Y...

I am considering buying a bottle of this in an online order I am planning, I don't see any mention of it on any of the added sugar lists - am I missing it?

In reference to the Seales interview - a week or so ago I tried a little experiment. I had finally opened my bottle of Plantation Barbados 5 yr and was deciding whether or not to order another from Hitime in an upcoming order. I like it but do find it a little sweet, but not a sweet bomb despite the...

The article was referring more to the 5 yr olds being released as NAS, not to special releases such as A'bunadh, Uigeadail, Corryvreckan, etc. Johnnie Walker formerly had a Gold label with a 18 yr age statement that retailed for $70-80, and was very good. Now they have a $60 NAS "Gold Reserve&q...

Not to mention, I am sure this is responsible for the upward price drfit of the upper level products over the last couple years. Some that I like or have wanted to try, with the prices I could have gotten a couple yrs ago vs lowest price I see now: Balvenie doublewood $36 / $45 Balvenie 15 yr $50 / ...

And the question: forgive me, but what is skunking? The simple answer - open a bottle of Heineken, take a whiff and you will know what skunked means. Light is the enemy of beer, it breaks down hops and destroys the taste and aroma, resulting in a rancid taste and skunk-like odor when the bottle is ...

The problem with those "fake craft brands" is that once someone who knows good beer tastes them, they realize they suck and never go back. I always check ratings on ratebeer before buying something I've never heard of, and this has saved me from many such bad purchases. The kind of people ...

But is sugar added because the rum is "subpar" - or because of the popularity of Zacapa, Zaya et al? To make it more appealing to the masses? The average person would probably greatly prefer zacapa to Smith & Cross, but might like Smith & Cross better if you dump in a bunch of suga...

I read about the "Eva Cafe Solo" tonight, which is basically an immersion system in a neoprene insulating jacket and pour-through mesh filtration - the idea being to make French-press style coffee with minimal heat loss. This gave me an idea. I recently "borrowed" my girlfriend's...

Well, the verdict is in - it turned out sort of almost drinkable. Is a little weak and bitter and has some green / grassy aroma and taste, but it does also have some interesting fruity and chocolatey aspects. I drink my coffee black but sweetened, but have been cutting back recently. Unsweetened the...

So I've got a question - if by some chance I found some green Guatemalan beans I had stuck in the freezer a long time ago (maybe 10 yrs) - what kind of results might I get if I roasted them? Just for fun I dug out a Melitta roaster I got maybe 15 yrs ago when my ex and I were selling at flea markets...

I came across some info today that says the average threshold for humans to taste sugar is 1%, or about 8 grams per liter. http://books.google.com/books?id=_QWbLTSL6HoC&pg=PA256&lpg=PA256&dq=average+sugar+taste+threshold&source=bl&ots=HxqmeMpiiu&sig=36Fj5xj4j8ZXHp09nnav_ObcGQ...
