Again, thanks... This is a complete and well cited article, and yet another example of the artisan trend toward pure, quality spirits and away from the secret, sugar laden crap that still abounds. It is only a matter of time before a few more of the majors are forced to take note... Thanks again my...

Mama, so nice to see up on the boards again...

For all the battles we have all fought to expose sugar, it seems that may have paid off, at least for the artisan distillers who have decided that purity is both desirable and saleable.

Thanks much for posting this good info...

Quickie addition: Padron Maduro 2000 and 3000... More anon, but suffice it to say the less expensive 2000 is a better maduro, at least from my viewpoint. The 3000 has been reported as better, but except for perhaps the first quarter I have to disagree. Further my 3000 sported a rather loose and spo...

And yet another...

And now: the Rocky Patel The Edge Missle Maduro... It's Christmas so I presented myself with a bottle of Jack Daniel's newish green labelled Straight Rye Whiskey, 90 proof and on sale at a measly $21. Made from about 70% rye, 18% corn, and 12% malted barley, then run through JD's ten feet of charco...

Ten Thousand Words Dept: A Pic from Rumaway

Kudo's to our new member, Rumaway! ...who is creating a series of pics that visualize the ongoing issue of hidden added sugar in rum in a most effective and dramatic fashion, to wit: http://rumproject.com/images/zacapa_black.jpg A picture does indeed tell the story, and in a way that ordinary copy ...

Update on "Parce" rum... It's very difficult to find anything on a product with such a limited history, and as expected my detailed inquiry was ignored, so no help from my good friends at Parce. Here goes: 1. Turns out that "Parce" - though not appearing in any translator - is i...

Mad for Maduro...

Cigars are surely an acquired taste... Each of us have different tastes. Over time I have found myself gravitating toward nice rich Maduros, medium-full in both body and strength. Here's my short list: Arturo Fuente Cuban Corona Brick House Maduro Sancho Panza Double Maduro Oliva Serie G Maduro Kri...

Anax, I once visited the area, and we got a free T-shirt for visiting the distillery. I met a lovely local woman, and we spent quite some days laying on the beach and drinking "Old Oak Rum", with a liter of Coke.

Same company?

Anax. this is a very intriguing post... Personal taste is a funny thing. Although the "old" MGXO is much revered, and about as close to a good whiskey as is possible, I understand your viewpoint, though I don't personally agree. Thanks for the contribution, a comment worth consideration...

Welcome... First, I apologize to all for my limited posting, as since I sold my home (to obtain a cruising sailbaot), I have been travelling the US.
