Amazon and Kindle both have it. Not a total puff piece, either - the planned air strikes, retroactive legislation, the involvement of Jesse Helms, Jeb Bush, and Tom DeLay, and other sneaky Havana Club/Arechabala family dealings are all covered in the book. And clearly, the current management team is...

Book Review: Bacardi and the Long Fight for Cuba

Those who have figured me out from my many years of posting on this and other rum sites, know that I am not really a fan of Bacardi products. This is not because I like piling on the big guy, but because I honestly think their silver and gold rums taste like cheap rum cut 50% with industrial solvent...

I too am a big fan of the Scarlet Ibis (and the Smith & Cross also). Been consuming the S.I. sparingly, as I don't know when or if I will ever see another bottle for purchase. Although my understanding is that it was crafted as a premium mixer, it works very well for me as a sipper, and is exhib...

So, I was just on the Bacardi website (don't ask me why), and observed that the Bacardi 8 is listed in their Flavored rum section. An interesting admission, don't you think? ******* Capn's Log : Really! Must check that out, though I'm not sure what that implies... (Later) Indeed the 8 Anos is placed...

I propose a contest to create a new mixed drink, to be called the Zombie Woof (with apologies to FZ), made using the 7 rums recommended by our Canadian friend for the perfect club bar.

Before we can properly assist you, we need to know the size of your cupboard, and what percentage of it you are willing to devote to rum.

I will second the motion on the Abuelo 12, I find it more interesting than the Plantation line's Panama rums.

Welcome to the fold!

OK, it took a while, but I finally got a review out of my sister for the Casa Noble Reposada:

smoky/oaky scent; clean and smooth, full flavor with strong "high notes;" very warm down throat. very easy to drink -- doesn't make you shiver but packs a punch; nice for sipping neat.

I've been a fan of the Pusser's Blue since first tasting it about 10 years ago. Sad to say, I have never tasted (or even seen) the 15 year aged version. Do you know if it is distributed into the US, and if so, to which states? Also, what is the price range? Thanks.

I was up at Premier Liquors last week looking for something new and different to buy and try. Almost pulled the trigger on this stuff, but then I noticed that the bottles were all stored vertically on the shelf. Presume that would neutralize any advantage gained from the horizontal barrels. ******* ...

Many of the best wines have chewy tannins, at least according to the wine spectator and wine advocate guys. Personally, I could never chew the tannins long enough to detect their flavor. ******* Capn's Log : Not really - hang in and I'll get to it. The descriptor "chewy" has been covered s...

I have a good friend who is a physician and also suffers from celiac disease. Having had the pleasure of touring both Prichard's Distillery and Celebration Distillation (Old New Orleans) earlier this year, I can say that both tours were informative and entertaining, both take their craft seriously, and both make some very nice rums. The differences, as you point out, are that...
