It is good that momentum is going on the sugar tests and I give thanks to all that are doing them. It won't be long before more enthusiasts catch on and start buying real value rums. It's a different story for your normal consumer they'll go with what ever hype is around at the time. It's the rum en...

What jumps out for moi... 1. McClelland makes more winners with about 16 blends. 2. A close second is G. L. Pease with 13. 3. Samuel Gawith at 10. 4. Boswell with 7. 5. Hearth & Home at 5. Interesting. What I'd be curious about though, is what do you consider the absolute, must have, must try c...

I'm still not ready to call it, but I've had a couple more chances to try the Artisan, and I'm really beginning to like it. Compared to the 965 it's richer and darker, definitely more complexity, and there's that Syrian barbecue and warm campfire sensation that I must admit, is very nice. I can see...

It's really a shame there isn't more agreement on these terms, as it makes it harder to find a style you like. Jimbo think of tobacco types as you do rum styles. Within a rum style let's say cuban you can have a vast range of flavours and taste. So it is with tobacco types. This is why some balkans...

Talking about mixing tobacco I smoked some leftovers today and although it tasted OK it smelled awful. Now I know this isn't really mixing tobacco but we all have leftovers from time to time in a bag or jar all mixed up. The previous leftovers were quite nice and smelled OK but, this lot nah had the...

There is a bit of a thing on the Youtube Pipe Community about mixing and pressing tobacco into cakes. Not sure if it's worth going to all the trouble to make a home made press just to mix some tobacco.

It's really a shame there isn't more agreement on these terms, as it makes it harder to find a style you like. For example, I seem to like a nice balance of taste wherein the lat smoke and oriental spice are in seeming balance, what I'd call a Balkan. But as Pease points out the quintessential Balk...

I think all these terms are pretty meaningless. I have Old Dublin that is classed as an English which has a pronounced Basma Oriental taste to it. On the other side of the spectrum there Is Peter Stokkebye's Balkan Mixture which is so balanced in flavour it tastes quite nuetral (bland) and is more l...

One I tried recently is Peter Stokebye's balkan mixture I think it's the same as balkan supreme in the States just a different name over here (I could be wrong) but. anyway this stuff is good not much in the taste department that stands out but it's the smoking experience that I liked, very relaxing...

If you want a short smoke meer you could buy a meer bowl for your falcon. AND meers have mixed reviews. Cheers Got that in mind. I'm just toying with the idea for now. Ozgur are doing meer falcon bowls for £36 but it will have to wait a while just dropped £100 on rum all spent out at the moment.

Sounds like a very nice blend. Recently bought a 25gram sample of Mac Baren vanilla cream which I like very much as an aro, might try this with Erinmore Balkan I think they will go together nicely. Similar to your aritan experiment. I'd like to here your theought on the Ashtons Jimbo. Been thinking ...

Acquired: the Sutliff My Match 965... ...apparently designed to "match" the Dunhill, and according to Tobacco Reviews comes pretty darn close, perhaps a bit smoother or lighter and to some more than holds its own. My review: "Still relatively new to pipes, but not all that new. Call ...

Nice looking meer jimbo. I did see pressed meer pipes somewhere but for the life of me can't remeber ( think it might be on James Brber site will have to check it out). What are the inside dimensions of the bowl, have you any idea. How long of a smoke do you get out of it. Found the link: https://ww...

If you're talking about my pear wood, chunky "Big Yellow" - it's really a lovely, unobstrusive pipe that allows the tobacco to shine, and whose draw as you know, is easy and nice. Apparently these really don't need a break-in, I only got a hint of wood on the first bowl. Nice to hear you'...
