Bullet point reply: -Yes, one must play the hand one is dealt when it comes to work. It's hard to take the Bravo Sierra without telling them to Foxtrot Oscar, but that's the deal. -That's hilarious on the Forrest Gump filming. Great story :) -Working offshore, I've flown at least once every 5 weeks ...

Hmm, where did you see the 99 PM bourbon, AK?

I bought everything I could find of the 99 PM Sherry, would be interesting to see what happens with a bourbon finished one.

Yes, true. But I'm not talking about the new distillate. I'm talking about the old great distillates. What we buy from the independents. It's true, DDL have squandered their talents in recent years. But SOMETHING they were doing pre-1999 led to them making the kind of rums which inspired even you to...

Cap'n, I'm interested in your thoughts regarding why then the Port Mourant and Versailles stills can get such unique tasting results? I recognize that it is just the boilers that have wooden tank surrounds. What is the heating source? I would imagine steam coils in the center somehow, since putting ...

I might include in a reply: "our membership and readership look forward to your site's revisions in the upcoming months, and are happy to help in any way we can. We urge you strongly to reconsider your position on undisclosed sugaring. As you have mentioned, the issues in the world of rum are c...

Do you have friends in Alabama? If you do, Alabama is a shipping state for K+L Wines, one of the best spirits etailers that does ship at all. Florida isn't a shipping state, and neither is Texas, so I feel your pain. But Alabama is a lot closer to you than Missouri is to me, which is where my closes...

This one is my favorite: http://winehug.com/ I think it's the best because, as you say, bottles of rum can be irregularly shaped, and the velcro strapping allows this device to be very flexible in conforming to different shapes. I bought three to test out about six months ago, including one of the d...

I now own two such flagons, from the Hannover stocks. These are my retirement bottles, so I'm not opening them for tasting, but I have sampled a taste of similar flagons from the seller. I haven't heard of "army rum", but the samples I've had have been similar to Pusser's, although with a ...

Fair enough, mama. Not exactly apples to apples though. These rums aren't extinct formulas warehoused for 40years, with military/royal significance. They're 10-15yr aged rums. Good ones, but not the same concept. DDL should have stuck with the Velier price points, which had plenty of profit built in...

DDL Announces El Dorado Rare Collection

Ruh roh. http://www.velier.it/prodotti/inventorum/rare-collection Initially, something to get excited about. For about a split second. After this has waned, we must face that what we were worried would happen is happening. Take a look at the pricing on a website in Denmark: http://www.romhatten.dk/a...

"However, 7 grams is quite a lot - this amounts to nearly two teaspoons of rum in a 1 liter bottle. "

If you have time to edit, fix the rum to sugar in this statement.

Nobody blames you for having rum on the brain

Canadian whisky seems to be knocking at the door of a change. The Crown Royal "Hand selected barrel" series (in quotes because hands have nothing to do with it and it was also not a single barrel product, having had very wide distribution), was 103 proof and claimed to be all flavoring whi...
