Short answer... yes, or any intermediate cost hydro. Far more important is calibrating the hydro. Please also read the section on accuracy of your home testing. Quite accurate and easy peasy.

Hi and thanks for posting. Unfortunately I'm doing the finishing touches on my new (used) cruising sailboat, so really don't post that much. But The Project is going nowhere. At a point there's only so much to say about rum, and the thousands of thoughtful (and political) posts here provide a treasu...

So just how Canadian is "Summer Love"? Not much. Let's review: "Summer Love" has a lovely Canadian backstory, bout a local canookie who created a real fruit infused vodka for his buds, who liked it so much, that he spent big bucks on an alleged (and expensive) Carl still - but o...

Back to the Future Dept: Pears, Barbados and the Wolfboy

Puff, puff went the Wolfy... blowing, but not a house in sight! ...and who seemingly has yet to find a bottom for the puffery that prevails in the current and very sad environment of made up product. To wit: Summer Love Spiced Pear Vodka http://rumproject.com/images/summer%20love%20vodka.jpg Accord...

Well!

It seems JaRiMi is referring to this test reported by Cyril: "Velier Caroni 1974: 6 cyril 0".

This was a rather old test, and frankly I'm not sure why it was reported this way, or whether I might have misreported it myself. Of course, I'll email Cyril for clarification...

Nice to see you back J... This is of course a pox on the American market especially, and the mass of processed foods, corn syrup, et al that have made our population overweight and unhealthy. Add to that the domination of the Big Three spirits mega-companies, the billion dollar subsidies, and the l...

What is it about Cuban cigars? Patel's Edge Habano may know

From my still developing position I think its fair to state the following: 1. Cuban cigars - with the exception of a certain period - have long been valued as the gold standard of cigars. The reason are multiple. Few are truly aware of the many handmade steps it takes to produce a fine cigar. New t...

Arturo Fuente: Gran Reserva Flor Fina Maduro 8-5-8 (6x47) It seems that AF tends to get undeserved criticism, especially for their some of their more economical lines, but even for their flagship Gran Reserva. Compare to the stereotyping trend for movie reviewers who can't see past their group prej...

I couldn't agree more in re the notion that a thin white is highly unlikely to transform into a meaningful aged rum.

Review: La Aroma de Cuba Wavell Robusto

And yet another: La Aroma de Cuba Wavell Maduro It was a glorious night back in my old hometown of Ft. Lauderdale - mid 70's, clear sky, lovely half moon - just begging for me to sit by the pool with a couple mini's of Jack Daniel's Black Label and find a decent cigar. A quick lookup on the net fou...
