I've skipped this thread a few times because of the word 'Bacardi' but I shouldn't have. Nice write up.

Thanks for the replies guys. Today I actually managed a pipe and also to order a couple of nice bottles to try. This time I thought I'd try some thing different and ordered the Benriach 17 year Solstice (100 proof) and a very promising Blantons straight from the barrel (126 proof). I am looking forw...

Virginias are hit and miss for me as well. I find them best enjoyed on a still sunny day where the sweet grassiness is complimented by the air. They aren't flavour bombs but good ones are worth their weight in gold.

So Many Vices, So Little Time

Due to work, a baby boy and the perpetual colds and flus that seem to accompany a small bacteria mothership, I have rarely been able to enjoy a dram of any kind and lately my fall back vice of quietly puffing away on my pipe has also been severely restricted. I look at whisky and rum with the longin...

The earthiness is very perique like, the spiciness could come from Virginias but if you're getting a spicy prickle in the nose like you would from wasabi then that's more perique. Not sure where the savory is coming from but it could be the turkish va mix.

I was in a Kawasaki riders club before moving to Europe. I still have a 1600 Kwakka sitting in the shed gathering dust.

Which term?

The rum fest is a sham. A well known shill fest and judging from the small conversation I had with Burr I consider him a bit of a goose. He's a money maker nothing more nothing less.

I think that list is really only valid for the U.S as it is predominantly visited by U.S pipesmokers. Almost all American tobacco is hard to come by or extraordinarily expensive for us in the EU due to taxes and duties. Likewise there are many EU tobaccos that would be uncommon in the U.S.
