Brilliant (as always), if biased view of the issue. Of note to me, his citation of wingsoverscotland.com aka Jimbo does politics: Of course we're just idiots with a website and nobody should listen to OUR opinion about anything. and his social contrast of Scotland and the Isle of Man - if true, thos...

I remember a great Nat. Geo. article many years ago about exploring the Nepalese highlands and the (ahem) interesting affects of the butter which was a blend of yak milk and hemp seed! Hmmmm! Tasty coffee - both stimulating and relaxing :D

Multiple issues: Glenmorangie 10 is a great "well" malt. Consistent, inoffensive to almost all. Hence the best selling malt in Scotland. All spirits, wines, etc. suffer crappy years - live with it. The international, especially Asian, led by Japan, now add China, demand for malt is far bey...

Outstanding point BT! Although, with good coffees, I find that they give up their brighter, more aromatic tastes early, then move to the richer, more fruity flavors later. My ideal is a cup that makes me smile across that full range of temperature. That's not to say that I'll throw out a good Sulawe...

The police riots in MO remind me too much of the Chicago cop riots @ the Chicago Democratic convention, and even earlier Selma, Montgomery, ... I had hoped we had turned that page. Not sure of the soure, but: "The role of the military is to defend the people from our enemies, the role of the po...

Cap, I can't offer a great deal of advice here - even though my BP would appreciate a lower caffeine intake, the ones that I've tried tend toward the thin and bitter. I hope yours is better - I like the idea of going half-caff. For the decaf portion, it might be good to go with a fairly neutral coff...

JaRiMi, please put on your old guy glasses and fracking read what I wrote - your response simply echoed what I posted. Is what Jimbo quoted from you any different from my more expansive: Yep, different stills, different barrels, different seasons, different years - blending those into a well-balance...

Like jarimi states it's about the variables Yep, different stills, different barrels, different seasons, different years - blending those into a well-balanced whole is the blender's job. Doing that master task and creating a consistent product is a fine art. To do so with product from multiple dist...

Just an observation: if you're going to drop a mortgage payment on a bottle of wine, what is it? Probably a Burgundy that has spent 15-20 years in a cellar for 12-20 years (depending on mortgage) at constant temp & humidity. Hmm...

Rum is always about the master - the blender - not the distillers and/or agers. Big corp will never get that, hence quality will continue to decline. Richard Seale: train your children and apprentices well - craft rum may be as rare as original Williamsburg (VA) houses. (OK - for our Euro friends, W...
