Help!!

Post by Dai »

I'm off to Barcelona at the end of the month. I've found a good shop to buy rum from but need help in picking a good rum. They do have some rum that is not available in the UK.

If you guy's have a spare moment take a look at this site and see if you have any recommendations not to expensive though keep it at €40 Euros

http://lafuente.es/en/categoria-product ... oducts=497

I did spot one rum that is rare even for European standards but it's a good price.

PRICHARD’S FINE RUM
33.65€
http://lafuente.es/en/producto/ron-prichards-fine-rum/

Any of you guy's tasted Pritchards?
Is it worth taking a punt?

Within your budget:

Bacardi Heritage

Caroni 15 - must buy

Banks 5 or 7

apparently there is a 10 year Demerara, Boote Star

Coruba 12 (never tried it, Jamaican, how could it be bad?)

Doorly's XO

Any of the Mezans

Renegade Monymusk

Mount Gilboa

Renegade Port Morant

Uitvlugt 12

Their price on Smith and Cross is stupid cheap, €21!

Note, several of these I haven't tried and there are many many more I haven't heard of

Not a bad selection at all there. I would be hard pressed to only get one bottle or so there. I could see myself getting a box or two.

But anyway onto selections ---

for under 40

RON CIGUEÑA CARTA 1975

This appears to be a Barbados rum that is over 25 years old. Interesting indeed. Its only a 500ML bottle though.

But for a little more you can pick up that 1994 Velier 18 year old Caroni.

Prichards rum is great stuff but these other two bottles won't be around much longer while Phil's rum will be.

Agree with Hassouni. The Caroni is very cheap in that shop compared to prices I have seen lately.
Would also check the RON bottlings. Not sure if they are cask strength though.

The selection seems to contain some lovely Savana rums also, well worth trying!

- CARONI 18 YEARS 1994 HEAVY TRINIDAD (great price)
- CLAIRIN SAJOUS (white haitian rhum/clairin, must try)
- NEISSON L’ESPRIT BLANCO (70º) : a white agricole bottled straight from the still, 70%, unique and full of aromas

and then

- BALLY 12 YEARS PYRAMIDE
- RON BLACK ROCK RENEGADE
- NEISSON EXTRA VIEUX

The 1994 caroni seems to be out of stock. But the 15 yo is there.

There are many Renegade (Bruichladdich) bottlings including an 1990 Enmore (pot still?).

The Clairin is so much better value compared to UK. TWE has it at £30-£40 while lafuente has it somewhere like 20 Euros!

I need to book a trip to Barcelona.
