Rotten Teeth Dept: Master Sugar List keeps growin...

Post by Capn Jimbo »

Thanks to Mama, myself and especially the Pirate...

The Master Sugar List for rum (and a few Canadian whiskeys) now totals 651 tests.

Now THAT is fackin amazing. I have seen on the net where rum drinkers are now saving or printing it out as a valuable buyer's reference. Even distillers are becoming aware as recently reported (Cane & Abe Rum, who market the fact that their rum is "unsweetened").

Thanks to all who have participated in the fight for honesty and transparency. Now if only we could get honest age statements...

Total now is 783 tests, but...

I am sorry to note that it appears the Big Three, et al, may have lobbied Sweden who seems to have ceased reporting their tests. Fortunately, their older tests were recorded on the Master List, but I'd sure like to see their new tests.

The Swedes list hundreds of rums, and finding out this information could take us over 1000 tests, a long held goal.

MJ, any ideas?

Out of curiosity, who specifically in Sweden tests rums? Do they test other alcohol?

By "Sweden" we mean the government of Sweden, who still tests all wines, beers and spirits. It seems though that although they are tested, their government website now leaves out the sugar content.

I can only assume they were lobbied.
