The original: Frank Method (of packing AND lighting)

Pipes on the ships of old were nothing new. Tobacco and rum made their appearance in short order with tobacco inherited from American Indians and rum from the Caribbean. Smoking aboard ship was allowed by limited to a safe area and at safe times, ergo the "smoking lamp". Where? Usually near the Galley, as it is here. A huge thanks to the amazing da'rum - a man of high ideals and many talents. This is just one of them.

The original: Frank Method (of packing AND lighting)

Post by Capn Jimbo »

This German gentleman became rather famous...

His real name is A. Frank. But this mature gentleman - who posted but three videos - is now famous for the "Frank Method", quoted by so many others as a way to pack. What I didn't know is that his method also includes his "Frank" way of lighting.

Here they are, the method is in 3 parts/short videos...

1. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kJP0JaNRw6Q

2. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9U5QbtyNxhA

3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OMtHOAiO8CI

da'rum had posted a link to a fellow who was a great resource (SmokingRingsPipeDreams), who was a big proponent of the Frank Method, as is Pipaedia and Pipes Magazine among others.. These are the original videos by the man himself.

Very thorough, with interesting rationale. After watching 5 or 6 videos by other posters (incl. PipeRingDreams), I can safely say that no one explains it like Frank himself. Don't miss it. I thought I knew the method until I saw the original...
