Pipes on the ships of old were nothing new. Tobacco and rum made their appearance in short order with tobacco inherited from American Indians and rum from the Caribbean. Smoking aboard ship was allowed by limited to a safe area and at safe times, ergo the "smoking lamp". Where? Usually near the Galley, as it is here. A huge thanks to the amazing da'rum - a man of high ideals and many talents. This is just one of them.
Anniversary this corn cob is one year old this week and I've smoked it on average two to three times a week over that year. The Connoisseur's choice was the second tobacco I ever tried and very nice it was to, should get another tin soon. This was my first pipe and it's still going strong, smoked some Skiff Mixture in it this morning.

Whatever the reason, I too find a corncob pipe an atttractive, comfortable good smoking pipe. I'm a particular fan of the curved stem. And just look at the color it's picked up.
