Smith and Cross Daiwhatamesseri

Post by da'rum »

I started making a Daiquiri and this happened.

2 ounce S&C
1 ounce lime juice
1 lime cheek poked, squeezed and thrown in
1 cap full Amaretto
1/2-1 ounce 50/50 cane sugar mix
3/4 ounce Malibu (don't yell at me)
4 Melissa leaves
topped with a little club soda or tonic.
ice

Throw all together minus soda or tonic. Bruise Melissa leaves before throwing in. Shake like no tomorrow. Add soda or tonic.

Enjoy

Help a mixed drink idiot...

Post by Capn Jimbo »

I'm a true idiot when it comes to mixed drinks...

But this sounds interesting, and do please forgive my idiotic questions...

1. What is a 50/50 cane sugar mix?

2. What are Melissa leaves and where are they found?

3. What do you mean by a "lime cheek"? Is it just a slice of the end? Is it just the skin and pith? How do obtain a "cheek"?

It's pretty tasty Jimbo,

1. What is a 50/50 cane sugar mix?

A mix of dissolved raw cane sugar and water of equal parts. Of course white processed sugar works as well but I like the taste of the raw sugar better.

2. What are Melissa leaves and where are they found?

Melissa is Lemon balm and can be found at any grocery store. I like to buy the little plants that are living and keep them alive as long as I can while I use them.

3. What do you mean by a "lime cheek"? Is it just a slice of the end? Is it just the skin and pith? How do obtain a "cheek"?

Yep pretty much, It's a slice from the side taking about a fifth of the fruit with a slice so you end up with a good amount of flesh and about an equal amount of skin. I poke the flesh to break the cells then squeeze into the mix and then throw the cheek into the mix as the oils from the skin have also been partially released.
