Rum old fashioned - by Yank

Rum drinks, rumcake, hot buttered rum, rum glazed ribs, Bermudan rum chowder, rum balls and bollocks. This be the place and it's all good. To the cook! Eat, drink and be Mary!

Rum old fashioned - by Yank

Post by NCyankee »

I've been experimenting with this recipe for a few days

http://www.foodrepublic.com/2011/04/14/ ... ned-recipe

only I use 1:1 Turbinado syrup which I find to be plenty sweet.

I just made it with Wray + Nephew overproof and it was outstanding. I find it tends to be better with rums that are not sweet with an intense flavor such as Smith & Cross.

I'm curious to know if anyone else has experimented with anything similar to this recipe, and what kind of results you have had.

Edit : I also just tried this recipe, and it was good - though I don't love the idea of mixing my ED 12 yr lol. (I don't have Angostura orange bitters so I use Fee bros.)
