Scientists have just invented the first artificial yeast this will probably have some implications to the spirit industries in future years.

Although not just a few distillers try to control their proprietary strains, others prefer open fermenation exposed to local and wild yeasts. Unique flavors are created by unique yeasts. A new and uniform synthetic yeast will tend to produce nice uniform rums for uniform tastes for uniform people.

Perfect. Turn on the switch and make lots of uniform money...
