I saw this a while ago and with all the talk about sugar and other additives in rum, I thought that others would find this interesting:
Oak adjuncts: Oak barrels can make wine taste drier and lend it notes of vanilla, but they’re expensive. A cheaper alternative? Oak chips, sawdust, or “essence”—a liquefied wood product that can be added directly to an otherwise finished wine.

Actually, a rather interesting wine link, thanks...


...show just how many additives (70+) and sneaky processes occur in the making mass monkey wine. And thanks too for updating the "Cheat Sheet". We hardly deserve it...
