Price increases are a fact of life and if I look at the wine world there are lots of wines I used to drink but can no longer afford. I can sympathise with the people who used to buy this for under $30, but having tasted this a few weeks ago for the first time, you really did get a bargain and you just enjoy the fact that you scored.

Coming back to the rum, I can wholeheartly recommend the first review in this thread. This is a reference point and I cant believe its taken me so long to purchase a bottle. Its deep, its round, it has an amazing finish. Its the lack of added sugar though that is the key - it has virtually none while most of my favourites have a lot. Same price here as Diplomatico Exclusiva and a lot less than Zacapa 23 year old, 2 old favourites, neither of which match the Gay XO. Brilliant.
