GMO and Whisky

Post by Dai »

Been wondering about GMO corn in bourbon so looked it up. Still not sure who uses GMO and who doesn't but four roese and Wild Turkey are GMO free.

I've heard from many American distillery representatives that GMO grain is largely unused in making whisky because it would put years of inventory at risk. If, down the line, the government decided that GMO grain was a really bad thing, they'd be sitting on tens of thousands of barrels of "unusable" bourbon and rye.

Which is ever more reason to change now...

Of course the mega's are so powerful that you can be sure the old stock would be grandfathered. Time to change, right now...
