Thought you might be interested in who Richard considers as his own mentors...
Quoting Richard:
"My father – People are often in awe when they visit Foursquare, its a standard they don’t expect, he set the standard.
Dave Broom – A whisky advocate who became a believer in rum. If he could so I realised, must I.
Neil Mathieson – Neil heads up our European/UK importers. He is a purist with utter contempt for anything less. Clearly we needed to find each other.
Luca Gargano – His enthusiasm for rum is joyous. He came to me to speak the gospel of pure single rum and I had an epiphany."

I'm less surprised...
Dave Broom is a force we all respect. Do visit the thread on Gargano and read his interview - a man dedicated to purity. As for Mathieson, he comes from a family with over 100 years of experience in producing Scotch whisky and is building a new distillery in Scotland based on top quality Forsythe (Scottish) copper pot stills, as is common for single malt production.
And I know Seale well enough to know that I'm confident that anyone he calls a mentor deserves the accolade.

Nice mentors indeed, all very respected and I think well chosen (I do not personally know them, but know of them).
To me, Luca Gargano especially means something of an "inspirator" - continues the great tradition of Italian great maestros of quality spirit world - Samaroli, Velier, Righi. Amazing people who are true to quality, and who have discovered & delivered us amazing rum & whiskies.
