Hello From Boston

Yes, the obligatory introductions section, but serves a good purpose - like a good, soft toilet paper - used only once but truly wonderful! "Here's to you and here's to me, may we never disagree - if perchance we ever do, here's to me and to hell with you!"

Hello From Boston

Post by ldp82 »

Hi all, I am Luke from the greater Boston area. Years ago I started getting into scotch. My wife is not a fan of the peaty stuff I love so we are putting in a home cocktail bar that has transitioned from the more classic cocktails to tiki. In the last 8 months I went from ~5 bottles of rum to >60. I am here to continue learning. I have come to the conclusion that some of the older rums have just too much sugar in them, I call it cocktail in a bottle syndrome. I have been on the hunt for rums with less sugar added if you all have any suggestions I would be eager to hear them.

Here's a shot of most of the collection/adventure:

A list of about 780 rum tests is in the sugar section, here:

For those who have not yet discovered how sugar quickly comes to blanket, smooth and smother a rum, be sure to review Che's amazing test wherein he reports the effects of 1, 5, 10 grams, all the way up to the massive sugar bombs like the Zee, Dee and Pee rums...
