For weekend fun...
It's arguable whether rum is in, or ever will enter a renaissance. But it is inarguable that South Florida - in this case Miami - is perhaps the greatest location for a rum festival. And Robert Burr has been producing rum tastings in historic Coral Gables for quite some time. These events have been fun and memorable.
The Rum Renaissance is actually a coproduction produced by Quantum Leap Network, publishers of Robert Burr's Gifted Rums Guide, in association with the Morgan's Hotel Group Shore Club; Ed Hamilton's Ministry Of Rum; Ian Burrell's and IPBartenders London Rum Experience; and Contemporary Cocktails of New York.
It takes place on Miami Beach and includes a Grand Tasting Event, Celebrity Seminars, a Rum Tasting Competition, VIP Events and culminates in the The Big Bang Beach And Pool Party.
Rums include including Diplomatico, Santa Teresa, Ocumare, Bacardi, Don Q, Zacapa, Captain Morgan, Matusalem, Myers's, Pampero, Parrot Bay, Oronoco, Atlantico, Cruzan, Clement, JM, Cabana, Mount Gay, Tommy Bahama, R.L. Seale, Appleton, Barcelo, Flor De Cana, Pussers, Brugal, 1 Barrel, Caldas, Angostura, Vizcaya, Sailor Jerry, Botran, Cuca Fresca, Castries, Charbay, Prichard’s, Classick, Maui, and Rogue.
